BROAN 13-SEER AIR CONDITIONERS GO MICRO-CHANNEL IN 2-5 TONS

HVAC, Press Releases

Benefits include shorter height, less refrigerant.

St. Louis, September 21, 2010 — Broan 3 ½, 4 and 5 ton 13-SEER, R-410A air conditioners with R-410A have recently been updated with Micro-Channel aluminum coil technology. These models join the 2 through 3 ton Broan Micro-Channel units that were released in 2009.

As opposed to traditional tub-in-fin coils with copper tubes and aluminum fins, Micro-Channel uses an all-aluminum construction. Micro-Channel technology has been successfully implemented in the automotive industry since the 1980s, making it a proven alternative to copper components.

Micro-Channel benefits include:

  • Smaller size: Broan’s 13-SEER Micro-channel condensing units are up to 8 inches shorter than their tube-in-fin predecessors, making them lighter to handle and easier to install.
  • Less refrigerant: 13-SEER Micro-Channel units utilize up to 42% less refrigerant than traditional units.
  • Easy to clean: Micro-Channel coils are much easier to clean and withstand the use of a power washer.
  • Corrosion resistance: All-aluminum Micro-Channel coils will resist corrosion much better than conventional tube-in-fin coils because of the single-metal design.
